Diastasis recti.

Diastis recti -- the twins recently turned 3. Their entire pregnancy was hard. It shouldn't be any surprise that there are lingering issues (aside from the stretch marks & the 'twin skin'). They're awesome & healthy & I wouldn't change a thing! That doesn't mean I enjoy this latest finding though. ;) 
My OB had mentioned the possibility at my 6 week follow up & tried getting me to check myself, but..... no. Just, no! The thought totally makes me squeamish & want to vomit as I'm passing out, lol  
Before the last year, I've been heavy so I ignored my large belly & chalked it up to being overweight. But, as I progress on my fitness journey & my belly is for the most part unchanging, I've been starting to wonder. Friday I saw a dr for my shoulders & asked her briefly about my belly on the way out the door. 'Do I have it or do I need more patience on my fitness journey?' Yeah, you have it. 
From Google & talking with friends, I've learned that surgery is the only way to truly repair it. The band (seems to work best right after birth) & physical therapy (up to 4 years after birth) can significantly reduce it enough to where surgery may not be needed but that won't repair it. 
I have another appointment in January with my doctor & we'll discuss this topic further.

Body Beast Week 5 Day 7/block 2 = I was determined to get in a workout today! But, I only had enough energy for a shower. First time ever missing more than 2 days in a row.... hoping I have enough energy for a double tomorrow!

Body Beast Week 5 Day 6/block 2 = sick day. I only got up to eat the pizza (not a great choice). Babies even slept with me most of the evening. Hoping they don't catch it!

Day 18 of 21 = happy thanksgiving! I tried to follow autumns tips & actually did pretty good!

Easy Thanksgiving dessert -- crumb apple pie cookie

So, I went shopping on Sunday & forgot to plan a dessert. 
I had a bunch of my apples that needed used & some chocolate chips on hand so I knew I could figure something out. 

I used 3 different recipes, lol It turned out ok! I would definitely tweak some things if I made it again. 


In process -- beer was mine! 


Completed creation! 


And, plated. 

Here are the recipes used: 

Crust/chocolate chip cookie: 

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 

Cream together the butter and sugars in a mixing bowl, mixing until pale yellow and light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in the eggs one at a time, and then the vanilla until combined. 

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a separate mixing bowl. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips. Portion 2 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and roll together to form a ball, spacing the dough balls 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. 

Bake until the edges just start to brown, 12 to 14 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Apple filling: 
3-4 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 stick unsalted butter, cut into bits

    Crumb Topping:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) cold butter, cut into small pieces

I basically baked the cookie mashed in the bottom of a glass dish for a while at 350. 
Added the apples on top. 
Added the crumbly top. 
Baked for a bunch of time longer. How long? Who knows. Keep an eye on it, lol 
And, we called it a pookie-- cookie/pie combo! Enjoy! :)

2. Nachos: pepper jack cheese, black beans & bell pepper 

3. Yogurt with peanut butter, blueberries & chocolate chips (I ended up with a second bowl after bedtime because Ev nabbed this one, lol)

4. Cheese sandwich 

5. Two veggie burgers with pepper jack cheese & sautéed broccoli 


Day 17 of 21 = heavy on the cheese. 


Body Beast Week 5 Day 3/block 2 = bulk arms! It was supposed to be legs but Rob was exhausted from going into work at 2AM to cook a shit ton of turkeys for the guys. So, we swapped.

How to 21 Day Fix Thanksgiving!!

Potty training twin boys.

Daddy chose to potty train the dynamic duo today. 
5 seconds later, he's decided we should run errands & he's asking 'do you have to use the bathroom?' as we're walking out the door. 
Meanwhile, Mommy has a much more clear memory of how potty training with O went so I packed up the emergency kit (complete with post its for the public bathroom) & my version of walking out the door is 'pee now or wear a diaper' (I suspect 1 will be in a diaper before we walk out the door). 
Wish us luck! lol

Photo journal & a road trip followed by Body Beast build legs

11 months, 1 week, 2 days!! of changing my life! 

Current fitness program: Body Beast! 


1. Vegan chocolate shakeology, peanut butter, banana, kale, cinnamon, raw honey, ice & water and road load: celery, peanut butter, bell pepper, sunflower seeds, granola bar, second shake (didn't eat the fruit)

2. Popcorn with butter (O ate most)

3. Veggie burger with pepper jack cheese & leftover mashed potatoes  


Day 6 of 21 = ok day. I'm still sick. Blah.   


Body Beast Week 3 Day 6/block 1 = build legs! Awesome workout. :)

Money saving tips

Interesting list! Could you be saving money? 

1. Been suckered into this one more than once! 
2. Razors are more expensive than a men's haircut, lol
5. Our garbage feels like we throw out bricks regularly, lol 
6. WRONG! ;) A cleanjng person is on my goal list for my business. 
8. LOVE IT!! At-home fitness program with a one time fee is a brilliant option. (no, I did not write this list;)

1.  Lunch out: veggie soup, Mediterranean veggie sandwich & baguette

3. Vegan chocolate shakeology, banana, kale (FINALLY a have my veggie back!), peanut butter, ice, & water, with yogurt, broccoli & leftover alfredo with gnocchi 


Day 5 of 21 = much improved! I'm so relieved I finally hit the grocery store! :)  


Body Beast Week 3 Day 5/block 1 = build chest & tris! Late workout tonight but I still love that one.
